Privacy Policy

Last Updated: September 11, 2026

BridgeWatch is designed to be a simple, private utility. We believe your location and usage habits are your business, not ours. This policy explains exactly what the app and this website do, and don't do, with information.

Information BridgeWatch Collects

In App Store privacy terms, the only piece of data tied to the BridgeWatch app is a device push token (an identifier), used to deliver bridge alerts and background status refreshes to your device. It is not linked to your identity and is never used to track you. The app does not collect your name, email, precise or approximate location, contacts, photos, browsing history, or usage analytics. Your quiet hours, commute schedule, and direction filter stay on your device. Joining the optional email waitlist on this website is handled separately. See Waitlist & Email below.

No Account, No Personal Data

BridgeWatch does not require an account. There is no sign-up, no login, and no user profile. The app does not collect, store, or sell personal information such as your name, contacts, or location, and it does not track how you use the app. Quiet hours, your commute window, and your direction filter are stored and applied on your device. Your alert level determines which Firebase notification topics the device subscribes to.

Push Notifications

BridgeWatch's alerts are delivered through Apple's Push Notification service (APNs) and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM). To send you notifications, your device registers a push token (a device identifier) with these services. We use this token only to deliver bridge status alerts and background refresh messages: it is not linked to your name or identity, and it is not used to track you or your activity. To route messages, Google's Firebase service may process limited technical information such as a device identifier and your device/OS type, in line with Google's Firebase privacy practices. Selecting "All Changes" or "Closures Only" simply controls which alerts your device subscribes to. Selecting Off stops user-facing alerts. Silent background messages may still refresh status and widgets, subject to iOS settings. Deleting the app stops it receiving messages.

No In-App Analytics or Advertising

The app does not use:

The app uses Apple's and Google's push-notification systems described above for alerts and background refresh, never for analytics or advertising. Beyond that, the app simply fetches public status information about the Causeway and displays it to you. BridgeWatch does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies, and it does not ask for permission to do so.

Website Hosting and Fonts

Our website is hosted by GoDaddy, which may collect technical request and website performance information for security and reliability. Our website security policy blocks third-party measurement scripts. Google Fonts supplies the website's fonts and receives the normal web requests needed to serve them. We do not use these services to build advertising profiles or track you across websites.

Status Data

To show the bridge status, the app downloads a public status file from our server. As with any internet request, our hosting provider may record standard technical information such as your IP address and the time of the request, for security and reliability. This information is not used to identify you and is not combined with any other data about you.

Waitlist & Email

If you sign up for our waitlist on this website, your email address is collected and stored by our email provider, Kit (formerly ConvertKit), for the sole purpose of notifying you when:

We will never sell or share your email address with third parties, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.

Third-Party Services

BridgeWatch relies on a small number of third parties, each used only for the function described above. Any data they handle is subject to their own privacy policies:

Data Retention & Deletion

Your locally saved alert preferences are removed when you delete the app. When you select Off, your device stops receiving user-facing alerts; silent status-refresh messages may continue. Deleting the app stops it receiving messages. If you joined the email waitlist, you can remove yourself at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email, or by contacting us at contact@tassin.tech.

Children's Privacy

BridgeWatch is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves or to reflect changes in the services we use. When we do, we'll revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.

BridgeWatch is an unofficial app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Greater New Orleans Expressway Commission or the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway. BridgeWatch reads a public status feed and classifies it automatically. We have tested this heavily over many months to keep it as accurate as possible, but it can still be delayed, incomplete, or wrong, so always verify conditions before you travel.
